With this course, the Dental Surgeon will be able to begin their training in Sleep Dentistry confidently, planning and executing the treatment of OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) with MAA (mandibular advancement intraoral appliances) in adults. Both the theoretical foundation and practical aspects will be covered, along with the discussion of clinical cases with varying degrees of complexity.
1- Begin the understanding of sleep dentistry, starting from the normal aspects of sleep and how to recognize the main sleep disorders, with an emphasis on OSA;
2- Address the principles of diagnosing OSA, treatment indications, and the execution of treatment with MAA;
3- Provide theoretical and practical grounding focused on Sleep Dentistry;
4- Enable students to interpret polysomnography reports;
5- Evaluate and manage possible side effects arising from this procedure;
Module 1: Theories on normal sleep and main disorders, with an emphasis on obstructive sleep apnea, clinical evaluation, diagnostic tests, and the main forms of clinical and surgical treatment.
At the end of the training, participants are entitled to a Training Certificate in accordance with Regulatory Decree No. 35/2002, as well as certification recognised and issued by SIGO, a governmental entity, as stipulated in Decree-Law No. 14/2017, of 26 January.
Our training, and consequently our certificates, also comply with the requirements of the Labour Code, Law No. 93/2019, of 4 September, which establishes the obligation for continuous training in companies, stipulating a minimum duration of 40 hours annually per worker.
* Hold a higher education qualification in Dental Medicine;
* Prior and mandatory completion of the Admission Form;
Submission of the following documents:
– Curriculum Vitae;
– Copy of Qualification Certificate;
– Copy of Citizen Card/Identity Card and NIF;
– Copy of OMD card or, if foreign, local Dental Order card.
