Bruxism and Temporomandibular Dysfunction in Clinical Practice

Bruxism and TMD are conditions commonly encountered in the clinical routine of various dental specialties, and they must be understood so that the professional can provide excellent care to their patients.

Course Details

  • Present updated concepts on the various types of TMD.
  • Provide updated information on sleep apnea.
  • Identification, diagnosis, and appropriate approach in cases of bruxism, whether during sleep, wakefulness, phasic, tonic, primary, or secondary.

Module 1: Theories on Minor Oral Surgery
8 hours of theoretical course and 2 hours of laboratory practice.
– Anatomy and Anesthesiology Applied to Minor Oral Surgery
– Preoperative: Medical History and Preoperative Complementary Exams
– Surgical Table Setup and Clinical Practice
– Medication Therapy

Module 2: Techniques of Minor Oral Surgery
2 hours of theoretical course and 6 hours of clinical practice.
– Fundamental Surgical Maneuvers
– Accidents and Complications in Minor Oral Surgery
– Surgical Technique (Extraction of Simple and Complex Impacted Teeth).

At the end of the training, participants are entitled to a Training Certificate in accordance with Regulatory Decree No. 35/2002, as well as certification recognised and issued by SIGO, a governmental entity, as stipulated in Decree-Law No. 14/2017, of 26 January.

Our training, and consequently our certificates, also comply with the requirements of the Labour Code, Law No. 93/2019, of 4 September, which establishes the obligation for continuous training in companies, stipulating a minimum duration of 40 hours annually per worker.

Requirements

  • Hold a higher education qualification or be enrolled in Dental Medicine;
  • Prior and mandatory completion of the Admission Form.
  • Submission of the following documents:
  1. Curriculum Vitae;
  2. Copy of Qualification Certificate;
  3. Copy of Citizen Card/Identity Card and NIF;
  4. Copy of OMD card or, if foreign, local Dental Order card.
