Qualification in Analgesia and Conscious Sedation with Nitrous Oxide

The course is aimed at Dental Surgeons and its objective is to qualify and empower them to confidently perform the inhalation sedation method using the gas mixture of Oxygen and Nitrous Oxide, effectively and safely incorporating it into their daily practice in any specialty, thereby achieving both technical and financial enhancement.

Course Details

Enable the professional to correctly perform sedation using the gas mixture of Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen, aiming for the analgesia and sedation of the patient with safety and comfort.

DAY 12

  • History of sedation with Nitrous Oxide;
  • Concepts and definition of Nitrous Oxide Sedation;
  • Classification of sedation methods;
  • Concepts of pain and anxiety in Dentistry;
  • Anatomy, Physiology of the upper airways;
  • Pharmacology of N2O: Drug interactions;
  • Pharmacological characteristics, properties, interactions;
  • Inhalation sedation;
  • Advantages and disadvantages of Nitrous Oxide Sedation;
  • Inhalation sedation technique: Indications and contraindications;
  • Signs and symptoms of sedation.

DAY 13

  • Patient history;
  • Monitoring vital signs;
  • Legislation and ethics;
  • Medical Emergencies and BLS – Basic Life Support.

DAY 14

  • Equipment: components, manufacturers, monitors, preparation and maintenance;
  • Assembly and preparation of the equipment;
  • Patient sedation: protocols to be followed.

At the end of the training, participants are entitled to a Training Certificate in accordance with Regulatory Decree No. 35/2002, as well as certification recognised and issued by SIGO, a governmental entity, as stipulated in Decree-Law No. 14/2017, of 26 January.

Our training, and consequently our certificates, also comply with the requirements of the Labour Code, Law No. 93/2019, of 4 September, which establishes the obligation for continuous training in companies, stipulating a minimum duration of 40 hours annually per worker.

Requirements

  • Hold a higher education qualification or be enrolled in Dental Medicine;
  • Prior and mandatory completion of the Admission Form.
  • Submission of the following documents:
  1. Curriculum Vitae;
  2. Copy of Qualification Certificate;
  3. Copy of Citizen Card/Identity Card and NIF;
  4. Copy of OMD card or, if foreign, local Dental Order card.
