Course Details

To train students to handle more complex cases in a more assertive and safe manner, especially those requiring skeletal anchorage for managing the occlusal plane in all three spatial planes.

General Objectives

  • Management of the Occlusal Plane in the three spatial dimensions
  • Occlusal Plane Rotations (Roll, Pitch, and Yaw)
  • Extra-alveolar, Interradicular, or Palatal Mini-implants?
  • Types of Mini-implants for each area
  • Correction of Gummy Smile (maxillary impaction with mini-implants)
  • Correction of Inclined Occlusal Plane (occlusal cant)
  • Anterior Open Bite
  • Class III in adults (reducing chin projection in profile)
  • Orthopedic Treatment for Class III in young individuals and children
  • Class III with Anterior Open Bite
  • MARPE (Maxillary Expansion with Mini-implants)
  • Efficient traction of impacted canines
  • Hands-on Mini-implant Placement
  • Hands-on Advanced Biomechanics

Sessions

1st Session – Theoretical (Duration: 8 hours)

Content:

  • Management of the Occlusal Plane in the three spatial dimensions
  • Occlusal Plane Rotations (Roll, Pitch, and Yaw)
  • Extra-alveolar, Interradicular, or Palatal Mini-implants?
  • Correction of Gummy Smile (maxillary impaction with mini-implants)
  • Correction of Inclined Occlusal Plane (occlusal cant)
  • Anterior Open Bite
  • Class III in adults (reducing chin projection in profile)
  • Orthopedic Treatment for Class III in young individuals and children
  • MARPE (Maxillary Expansion with Mini-implants)

2nd Session – Practical (Duration: 8 hours)

Content:

  • Hands-on: Placement of interradicular mini-implants
  • Hands-on: Placement of mini-implants in the Infrazygomatic Crest (IZC 1)
  • Hands-on: Placement of mini-implants in the Zygomaticomaxillary Process (IZC 2 – high)
  • Hands-on: Placement of palatal mini-implants
  • Hands-on: Segmented Distalization (Sliding Jig fabrication + activation)
  • Hands-on: Maxillary Impaction
  • Hands-on: Traction of impacted canine (Logarithmic Cantilever fabrication + activation)

At the end of the training, participants are entitled to a Training Certificate in accordance with Regulatory Decree No. 35/2002, as well as certification recognised and issued by SIGO, a governmental entity, as stipulated in Decree-Law No. 14/2017, of 26 January.

Our training, and consequently our certificates, also comply with the requirements of the Labour Code, Law No. 93/2019, of 4 September, which establishes the obligation for continuous training in companies, stipulating a minimum duration of 40 hours annually per worker.

  • Mandatory pre-completion of the Admission Form

    • Curriculum Vitae
    • Copy of the qualification certificate
    • Copy of the Citizen Card/Identity Card and NIF
    • Copy of the OMD card (or the local Dental Association card for foreign participants)
    • Professional Liability Insurance (if applicable – for courses with a clinical practice component
